Description
Northpointe Training’s Self-Defense Life Skills Academy is for anyone who has ever wondered, “What could I do to protect myself or help someone else in an emergency??”
You do not need prior experience or any interest in carrying a firearm. You just need a desire to be better prepared for yourself and the people you love. Bring your questions, practice useful skills in a welcoming setting, and leave with more confidence in what you can do.
The Academy includes three two-hour courses at The Brigade Shooting Company. You may take any course on its own or join us for all three:
- Course 1: Situational Awareness & Pepper Spray Use, Tuesday, October 20, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Course 2: Flashlight Use, Impact Tools & Environmental Weapons, Thursday, October 22, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Course 3: American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed®, Friday, October 23, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Topics Covered
Topics include an introduction to:
- Situational awareness and recognizing potential warning signs
- Ways to avoid or leave a concerning situation
- Carrying and using pepper spray responsibly
- Using a flashlight for awareness and personal safety
- The possibilities and limits of impact tools and everyday objects
- Making decisions through guided scenarios
- Recognizing and responding to severe bleeding through the American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed® course
Expectations and Outcomes
By the end of the Academy, you’ll be better able to recognize potential concerns early, consider when to leave or seek help, and make informed choices about the self-defense options available to you. You’ll have practiced using pepper spray and a flashlight, explored the possibilities and limits of everyday objects, and practiced responding to severe bleeding.
You’ll take home a POM pepper spray and a slim flashlight. After completing Course 3 and its hands on skills, you’ll also receive an American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed® certificate of completion. You’ll leave with practical skills to keep building and greater confidence in your ability to act responsibly when it matters.
