New to firearms?? Start here!! NSSF’s First Shots® is a welcoming, beginner-focused course designed to introduce you to the world of shooting in a safe, supportive, and educational environment. Whether you’re curious about firearms, considering the purchase of your first gun, or just want to learn the basics, this class is the perfect starting point.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of firearm safety, how guns work, how to safely handle and store them, and what to expect at a shooting range. Best of all, you’ll get a chance to participate in live-fire shooting with one-on-one guidance from certified instructors.
No experience? No problem. We provide everything you need including eye and ear protection, firearms, and ammunition.

Documentation Requirements
Please bring a current, unexpired Ohio Driver License or CCW/CHL to class.
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old (or accompanied by a parent/guardian if under 18)
- Must be legally allowed to handle firearms
- No prior firearms experience is necessary – this course is designed for beginners
- Government-issued photo ID
- Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for the range
- If you have your own firearm and eye/ear protection, please feel free to bring them (optional)
- All firearms must be unloaded and in a secure case upon arrival and must remain cased during the classroom portion of the course
