MantisX & Laser Academy Training System Workshop

You’ve decided that it’s time to take your training to the next level because you’re tired of continually making holes to the low left (or to the low right, if you’re a lefty 😉) of your target. You know the importance of incorporating dry-practice practice into your training regimen but without feedback on your dry-practice training, “shooting” at a target on the wall it’s incredibly boring and it’s hard to know if you’re actually improving your skills or if you are just building up training scars from bad habits. 😞

Enter the MantisX Training System. The MantisX is a unique approach to dry-practice training in that the MantisX sensor does not use a laser and instead it mounts on the rail (or the magazine) of your firearm and observes and evaluates your movements as you press the trigger. Using powerful gyroscopes and accelerometers, it analyzes everything before, during, and after the shot, so if you are flinching, slapping the trigger, or anticipating recoil, the MantisX can detect this movement and will provide you with instant feedback through the free app. 😊

With guided drills and real-time feedback, Laser Academy allows you to have a training facility at home and at your convenience. Get quality reps with your own equipment and experience a higher level of dry-practice training with positive results you can see and feel. Laser Academy’s variety of drill options also keep things fresh for shooters, making practice feel more like a game and less like a chore. The Laser Academy system utilizes a laser training cartridge that drops into the chamber of your weapon, delivering a light beam down the barrel every time the firing pin strikes the round. Using physical targets, these laser “shots” are read by your phone or tablet and scored accordingly, per mode. The simplicity of the setup is what provides the flexibility for when and where you can practice. 

Topics Covered

MantisX is a motion-based shooting system that analyzes movement during the firing process. Based on this movement, the system is able to give you feedback on possible errors in your technique and what you might be doing to cause those errors. Think of it as a diagnostic tool, like a study guide, that you continue to use to improve until it is time for the test.

Laser Academy gives you point of impact data while dry-practice training with your firearm. It will give you hit locations, the time between shots, and scores depending on the target used. Laser Academy is the test. Obtain sight picture, press the trigger, and if you are getting great scores, you know all the work you put into the study guide paid off. If not, get back to the study guide. 😉

Expectations and Outcomes

By the end of this course you will understand how to use your MantisX Training System and your Laser Academy and you will feel confident in its use as part of your dry-practice training regimen.

Documentation Requirements

Please bring a current, unexpired Ohio Driver License or CCW/CHL to class.

Requirements

Serviceable semi-automatic handgun. In rare cases, the MantisX could be attached to the flat bottom grip of a revolver, but a semi-automatic handgun is preferred for this training

ELECTRONIC hearing protection - Students must be able to clearly hear and understand instructors/instructions during this training
