Description
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
This is an eight-hour course which contains both classroom and live-fire segments. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition and need to be an "experienced shooter" as defined as someone who can:
1. Demonstrate mastery of the basic skills of safe firearm handling
2. Demonstrate trigger finger discipline and muzzle awareness AT ALL TIMES!!
3. Shoot a decent group
4. Zero their firearm
5. Clean their firearm
6. Follow instructions

- How to choose a handgun for self-defense

Expectations and Outcomes
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and a Course Completion Certificate.

Documentation Requirements
This course is for individuals who are not disqualified from possessing and/or using a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and who are of good repute.
Students must be law-abiding, adult, U.S. Citizens, or U.S. Persons (defined as a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).
Students must possess a valid Driver License or Government Issued Identification to participate in this course. Please note that Visa holders (Work, Travel, Etc.) are not eligible to participate in any Northpointe Training, LLC courses involving firearms.
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
Equipment Needed:
- Valid Driver License
- Modern defensive pistol
- Two (2) magazines
- Holster (OWB, IWB, Appendix) - no shoulder, cross draw, Serpa, or middle-of-back styles
- Sturdy gun belt - Please understand this is NOT a Sunday-go-to-meeting belt. This is a rugged belt designed to support the weight of a firearm, a holster, and other carry accessories
- Speed loader
- Mag pouch
- Ammo: 150 rounds minimum
- ELECTRONIC hearing protection - Students must be able to clearly hear and understand instructors/instructions during this training
- Eye protection
- Appropriate range clothing - No low-cut shirts or open-toed shoes, etc.
- Brimmed hat or ball cap
- Note taking materials
- Lunch, snacks, and hydration (Door Dash, GrubHub, etc. are available for delivery to our location. 😋)
- A willingness to be an attentive, safe, and diligent learner with a positive and receptive attitude!! 😊
Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitude, by producing verfification of successful completion of a basic handgun course. This verification can include:
Students must provide proof of successful completion of a basic handgun course prior to taking the PPITH course. This verification can include any of the following:
- An NRA Basic Pistol Course Completion Certificate
- An NRA FIRST Steps Course Completion Certificate
- An NRA Pistol Competitive Shooting Qualification Card
- A Military DD 214 with Pistol Qualification
- Any USCCA Pistol Training Course Completion Certificate
