Approved Rifle Calibers and Configurations

This course is designed around the use of safe, serviceable rifles chambered in either:
• .22 Long Rifle (.22 LR)
• .223 Remington / 5.56 NATO

These calibers were intentionally selected because they provide an effective balance of controllability, reliability, accuracy, and instructional value for both developing and experienced shooters.

.22 LR rifles are strongly encouraged for foundational marksmanship development due to their:
• Minimal recoil
• Reduced noise signature
• Lower ammunition cost
• Excellent suitability for precision fundamentals and instructional demonstrations

Intermediate centerfire rifles chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56 NATO are also permitted and are appropriate for students seeking to develop proficiency with modern sporting rifles and defensive rifle platforms. These calibers offer:
• Manageable recoil characteristics
• Effective external ballistic performance
• Widespread availability
• Common use in sporting, defensive, and professional applications

Permitted rifle action types may include:
• Bolt action rifles
• Semi automatic rifles
• Lever action rifles
• Pump action rifles
• Single shot rifles

All firearms must be safe, serviceable, and comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and range regulations. The instructor staff reserves the right to inspect and approve or deny any firearm or equipment for safety, suitability, or instructional compatibility reasons.
