Description
Are you thinking about getting your concealed carry permit for personal defense??
Maybe you’re already a permit holder looking for a solid refresher. Or, like many responsible Americans who already have experience with firearms, you may simply want a clearer understanding of the legal responsibilities that come with owning and carrying a gun for personal or family protection.
Or perhaps you’re already comfortable on the range and want to further sharpen your skills in safe handling, storage, and responsible use “just in case.”
This is the class for you!!
Northpointe Training's Ultimate CHL Course, based on USCCA’s Concealed Carry & Home Defense Fundamentals, brings value to both new gun owners and seasoned shooters. Whether you’ve recently purchased your first firearm or you’ve been carrying and using for years, it deepens your understanding of what it truly means to be your family’s first line of defense.
Understand – Carrying a firearm increases your responsibility. Learn the knowledge and skills to carry safely and confidently.
Plan – Explore how your body and mind may react under stress and build a plan to respond effectively in a real self-defense situation.
Avoid – Learn the importance of de-escalation, conflict avoidance, and what to do if the use of deadly force becomes unavoidable.
Please note: Range fees, firearm rentals, and ammunition purchases are handled separately and are paid directly to The Brigade Shooting Company upon check-in.
Topics Covered
This course includes:
- Reviewing shooting fundamentals
- Understanding how to avoid conflict and awareness of your surroundings
- The psychology of violent encounters
- The legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath)
- Home security and home defense
- A gear and gadget guide that can help students concealed carry more effectively.
- The opportunity to engage in Virtual Reality Use-Of-Force Decision Making on our Smokeless Range
As a bonus to those who have yet to obtain their CHL/CCW, this 8-hour course satisfies the concealed carry training requirement for the state of Ohio. 😉
Please note: Range fees, firearm rentals, and ammunition purchases are handled separately and are paid directly to The Brigade Shooting Company upon check-in.
Expectations and Outcomes
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER FIREARM COURSE and range fees and equipment rentals are NOT included in the course fee.
While this course is designed to help and inform new gun owners, it does not teach the fundamentals of shooting a handgun. You will be expected to demonstrate safe, confident, and proficient firearm handling and operation during class.
If you join us as a brand-new shooter, please know that this course may not provide the level of one-on-one attention beginners often need, and you may not meet the requirements to successfully complete the required shooting qualification. I truly want you to succeed and feel confident — so I highly encourage you to join me for a foundational shooting class and/or a private lesson beforehand.
These personalized sessions are relaxed, supportive, and specifically designed to give new shooters the training tools and hands-on guidance they need. You’ll build solid skills, ask every question you want, and show up to the Ultimate CHL Course feeling prepared, comfortable, and psyched!!
Upon successful course completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and this 8-hour course satisfies the concealed carry training requirement for the state of Ohio. 😉Types
Intermediate, Concealed Carry License, Concealed Carry Training, Constitutional / Permitless Carry, Legal Aspects for Use of Force / Avoidance, USCCA Courses, Virtual Simulation

Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites for this course; however, it is strongly recommended that students complete a Basic Fundamentals Pistol Course or a Private Firearm Lesson beforehand with me at Northpointe Training. Remember, the purpose of this course is to qualify for a license that permits you to carry a firearm for personal defense. With that responsibility comes a required level of skill, confidence, and demonstrated proficiency. It is extremely rare for a true beginner to meet the competency standards necessary for me to comfortably and ethically sign off on course completion.
Again, this class is not designed to teach you how to shoot from scratch!! Instead, it focuses on refining your fundamental skills and building the confidence necessary to carry responsibly for self-defense.
👉 If you’ve never handled a firearm before, we strongly encourage you to schedule a Private Lesson with us or enroll in our basic pistol course prior to registering for this CHL class.
Students will be expected to demonstrate safe gun-handling practices, such as muzzle awareness and trigger finger discipline, throughout both dry-practice and live-fire drills. Range fees and equipment rentals are NOT included in the course fee.
