About Practical Readiness Training Group (PRTG)

Dan Morris is the founder of Practical Readiness Training Group (PRTG), a civilian firearms training company based in Central Maryland.

On the firearms side, Dan holds the Rangemaster Instructor Development & Certification under Tom Givens, is a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor, and an NRA Certified Pistol and CCW Instructor. PRTG classes are built around one principle: teaching the why, not just the what. Every student comes in at a different starting point — the goal is to meet them there and move them forward.

Dan spent 10 years in the United States Air Force as a Military Targeting and Weaponeering Specialist — the discipline concerned with the precise application of lethal force. Three of those years were spent as a full-time instructor. He holds an Associate's Degree in Instructional Systems Development from the Community College of the Air Force and completed the USAF Basic Instructor Course — formal training in adult learning methodology, not just subject matter expertise. After the Air Force, Dan transitioned to the private sector, supporting the FBI as a contractor, training federal investigators in network intrusion forensics and advanced intrusion investigation. He then earned a Master's degree in Information Security from Johns Hopkins University and served as adjunct faculty at Hopkins' Carey Business School for years, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses. In his current role as a senior leader at a major defense contractor, Dan continues to develop and deliver technical curriculum. He has also completed ongoing counterintelligence and counterterrorism training, and his work has taken him to locations around the world where situational awareness was a professional requirement — not a classroom concept.

A: Contact us before enrolling. We can discuss options and help you find the right equipment.
