About RAP Defense

I am retired military with service in the Marine Corps and Coast Guard. I have served in combat in support of the Globar War on Terror, as well as trained Marines as an Urban Warfare and CQB instructor. My law enforcement background includes both domestic and international counternarcotics operations. I have a background in the private security industry working as a guard, contractor, as well as investigator. I am an avid competetive shooter and martial artist, with experience in numerous styles. My experience also includes volunteering as a 4-H rifle coach and summer camp marksmanship instructor, which rounds out my experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, from very young kids who have never touched a gun to battle hardened warriors with multiple deployments under their belts.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

Students may cancel or reschedule a class with at least 48 hours’ notice and receive a full refund of the fee paid or a full credit towards the same course, or equivilent value towards another course offered by RAP defense. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice , but before the published class start time, will receive a full credit towards the same course, or equivilent value towards another course offered by RAP defense.

Reschedule Policy

Credits may be used for any course for which the student is eligible, and must be used within one year from the date of the original scheduled class, or the credit will be forteited.

Refund Policy

No refunds or credits are issued for no-shows. Students who fail to show up for a class that they are registered for and fail to provide notice prior to the start of the scheduled class time will forfeit any payments made. Students who are dismissed from class for any behavior that the instructor deems to be inappropriate or unsafe for the environment, will forfeit any payments made, and any issuance of certificates or certifications associated with the class will be at the sole discretion of the instructor.

Other Policy

If RAP Defense must cancel or reschedule a class due to weather, range conditions, instructor illness, emergency, minimum class registration not met, or another unavoidable issue, students will receive full credit toward a rescheduled class or a full refund, at the choice of the student. If a full credit is chosen by the student, it must be redeemed within one year from the date of the original scheduled class, or the credit will be forfeited.
If a student is absent from a portion of training due to tardiness, any issuance of certificates or certifications associated with the class will be at the sole discretion of the instructor.

Waiver

By registering for or participating in training with RAP Defense, I understand that firearms training involves physical activity, mental stress, decision-making under pressure, and exposure to firearms, firearm-handling procedures, and/or simulated self-defense scenarios.

I understand and accept that firearms training carries inherent risks, including but not limited to injury, emotional distress, property damage, or legal consequences resulting from the use, misuse, or misunderstanding of firearms, defensive techniques, or related instruction.

I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation in this training.

I agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify Emmanuel Atilano, RAP Defense LLC, RAP Defense, instructors, assistants, range facilities, hosts, and affiliated parties from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from my participation in this training, whether during class, after class, or from my later use, misuse, interpretation, or disregard of any instruction provided.

I understand that all instruction is provided for educational and training purposes only. I am solely responsible for how I apply any advice, information, techniques, or skills taught during training.

I understand that Emmanuel Atilano may discuss Ohio firearms laws, concealed carry laws, use-of-force issues, and self-defense principles for educational purposes only. I understand that Emmanuel Atilano is not an attorney, does not provide legal advice, and does not represent me. I am responsible for researching, verifying, and complying with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

I certify that I am legally permitted to possess and handle firearms, and that I am not prohibited by law from participating in firearms training. I agree to follow all safety rules, instructor commands, range rules, and lawful instructions during training.

I understand that failure to follow safety rules or instructor directions may result in my removal from training without refund or credit.

By signing or electronically agreeing to this waiver, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily accepted this Liability Waiver and Release Agreement.
