Description
Exceeds the Texas requirements for License To Carry (LTC) training, this education and training is critical for anyone wanting to know more about the before, during, and after of a self-defense incident.
This class is NOT an introduction to firearms class, and it is recommended that the Students have enough proficiency to safely operate a firearm and to hit what they are aiming at before taking this class.
No persons who are legally prohibited from possessing a firearm may participate in the shooting qualification or handle firearms, but may still participate in the classroom portion.
Course fee includes the range qualification.
Topics Covered
- Laws that relate to weapons and to the use of deadly force
- Handgun use and safety, including use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure carrying of openly carried handguns
- Non-violent dispute resolution
- Proper storage practices for handguns with an emphasis on storage practices that eliminate the possibility of accidental injury to a child
Expectations and Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the Student will have learned and demonstrated a working knowledge of the relevant Texas laws and the best practices related to firearms and lawful self-defense.
The Student will also have demonstrated the ability to efficiently use a firearm at 3 testing distances; 3 yards, 7 yards, and 15 yards.
Successful completion will result in a certificate of completion and the required form that the Student may submit to apply for a Texas LTC, if they wish.

Documentation Requirements
Please bring your valid Government issued ID (Driver’s License, State Photo ID, Passport, Birth Certificate, Green Card, etc.) to class for verification.
The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.
Requirements
Texas requires successful completion of the test at the end of the classroom portion of this class, and successful completion of the shooting qualification.
The shooting qualification requires:
- pistol (available for rental if needed),
- 50 rounds of ammunition (100 rounds are recommended, in case a second attempt at qualifying is required),
- hearing protection,
- eye protection,
- a rimmed hat (ballcap or other style).
