Description

If you are interested in obtaining your Concealed Pistol License or if you are renewing your current CPL, please read the following:

Upon successful completion of this eight to ten hour course, participants are able to apply for their *Michigan* *Concealed Pistol License*.
This class is a one day course.
The class is taught by a MCRGO CPL Instructor. We follow the Michigan CPL law requirements as offered by MCRGO. MCRGO certificates will be provided to those successfully completing the requirements of the course. You will also gain a one year membership in MCRGO. MCRGO is the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners.

For those planning on *renewing* their existing CPL, the requirement for renewal is to apply within six months of the current license expiration date, without a loss of the entire five years for which your new CPL will be valid. (the new CPL will be valid the day your current one expires)

Two of the requirements for renewal of your expiring CPL are to spend three hours reviewing classroom materials from your CPL class and spending an hour on the range. As part of the renewal process with your County Clerk you will need to 'swear and attest' to the prior two requirements at the time of renewal application before your County Clerk, do not sign the application until you are in front of the Clerk and told to sign the document. All you need do is spend an hour on a range with your handgun to complete the renewal requirements, we do not offer this service as part of the Renewal class requirements.

From the Concealed Pistol Licensing Guide on the Michigan State Police website: "For a renewal of a Concealed Pistol License issued after July 1, 2001, the applicant must sign a statement certifying that her or she has completed at least three hours of review of the required training and has had at least one hour of firing range time in the six months immediately preceding the application."
Upon completion of the ‘renewal’ three hours we will issue a “renewal certificate” which attests to your completion of three hours of review, signed by one or more of the Instructors.
Combined with the six month lead time for renewal application before expiration of your current CPL, You may fulfill the three hours of review six months before applying for the renewal (yes, take this renewal class up to six months before applying for your renewal, six months before your CPL expires).
