About Defensive Skills Academy

We are a small, family owned business located in Berks County, PA.  We started off teaching first aid and CPR classes, we moved into teaching firearm safety and finally, we are a licensed firearm dealer and gunsmith.

The future outlook for our company is to have an outdoor / indoor firing range with classrooms and a store front so that we can further assist our customer with their needs.

All of our firearm instructors have a background in military, law enforcement, and / or emergency medical services.  We work together to ensure you are comfortable with the firearm you chose.  Safety is our #1 Priority!

Basic Pistol Shooting Course:
Introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol
shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Course will also
help prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses.

Refuse to be a Victim Seminar:
We never think a crime will happen to us, until it actually does. While sometimes unfortunate things do happen unexpectedly, it is important to be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for personal safety and crime prevention. Having a personal safety strategy in place and knowing the techniques and tactics you can use to avoid becoming a potential victim can help you live smarter and be safer.

“Crimes of Opportunity” are crimes committed without planning or forethought. When criminals realize they have a chance to commit a crime, they seize the opportunity. Don’t be an easy target. We can all pinpoint times where we’ve made ourselves an easy target – whether it was keeping our heads buried in our phones, parking in a dimly lit area at night, or leaving our houses or cars unlocked. But there are many more, less obvious situations that make us vulnerable as well.Provide an overview about the types of classes that you teach in a separate section.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

Due to limited seating, we request that you cancel at least 7 days before a scheduled class, This gives us the opportunity to fill the class. You may cancel via email only (sales@dtguns.com). If you have to cancel your class, we will offer you a credit to your account which will be valid for 1 year from the date you cancel or for a full refund. If the credit is not used with 1 year, it will become null and void. If you cancel less than 7 days before a scheduled class, you will be refunded 50% of the course fee.  If you cancel within 48 hours before a scheduled course or you are a no show to a course, no refund and no credit will be offered - No Exceptions.

If any instructor cancels a class, you will be given a full refund. 

NOTE: *All refunds will be returned to you via check within 7 business days from the date of cancelation.

Reschedule Policy

If for any reason you need to reschedule a class, please read the Cancellation Policy and email us at sales@dtguns.com.
