David has a wide and varied history in public service. Starting out in Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) in 1992 as a cadet volunteer and David rose through the ranks to Major while fulfilling multiple leadership roles through 20+ volunteer years. At the age of 18, David expanded his volunteer service by becoming a volunteer fire fighter for a department in the suburbs of New Orleans. David moved to the Denver area in 2000 and enlisted in the Colorado Air National Guard as part of the Security Forces (military police). While David was in basic training the tragic events of 9/11 happened. The following eight years were spent on active duty including two deployments to the Middle East, one to Central American, and a final one to the US/Mexico border. David obtained the rank of Technical Sergeant (E6) and was a Fire Team Leader and certified Flight Sergeant. Shortly after returning from his second deployment to the Middle East, David was selected to become a Flight Training NCO. The role of the Flight Training NCO was to develop and conduct training for flight member on duty. This ranged from classes on security to UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) to conducting military exercises. Part of those exercises included training flight member in the use of force as a F.A.T.S. (FireArms Training Simulator) instructor. Part of David's duties were to assist the base populace on their shooting skills and range qualifications. In 2009, David was released from active duty to return to a traditional guardsman status. This allowed him to pursue a career in civilian law enforcement and was hired by a local law enforcement organization. David continues serving the public today in this role. David has received several honors and accolades through out his time in the military and law enforcement:
