Description
To enroll, the NRA typically requires students to have already completed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course or demonstrate equivalent "pre-course assessment" skills. You are expected to already understand:
The fundamental rules of firearm safety.
How to operate your specific handgun.
How to shoot a consistent group on a static target.
The curriculum moves beyond the basics by introducing "defensive" variables that aren't found in entry-level classes, such as:
Drawing from a concealed holster: One of the most critical intermediate skills.
Emergency Reloads: Handling malfunctions and reloading under a time constraint.
Movement: Shooting while moving or moving to cover.
Target Engagement: Using "flash sight picture" rather than slow, deliberate aiming.
The goal of this course is to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, safely, and confidently.
