Description
The ASP Basic Tactical Baton Restraint Certification (ABC)Program is 14 hours, hands-on participatory seminar. Students will be trained in the operational use of the ASP tactical baton and restriant (handcuffing). Focus is placed on: Portation (Carrying). Presentation (Drawing), Striking techniques and Handcuff Application. The training incorporates drills which simulate the stress of a wide variety of street encounters. Students are required to bring scarbbard (baton holder), handcuff case with key and duty with keepers.

Tactical Baton Training
- Carrying and Presentation: Techniques for safely carrying and deploying the baton.

- Retention and Control: Skills to maintain control of the baton during engagements.
- Mechanical Function and Maintenance: Understanding the baton’s mechanics and proper maintenance practices.

Tactical Restraint Training

Integrated Training
The course integrates both baton and restraint training, providing participants with a holistic approach to subject control. Drills simulate real-world encounters, ensuring that techniques are practical and effective in various scenarios.
Expectations and Outcomes
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive an ASP Certificate and wallet card, signifying their proficiency in using ASP Tactical Batons and Restraints. Certification is recognized worldwide and is valid for a specified period, after which recertification may be required.
This course is designed to be accessible to individuals with a reasonable level of fitness, and there are no specific prerequisites. Training includes the use of an ASP Tactical Baton and/or Tactical Handcuff Training manual and mouth guard, which are provided to each candidate prior to the onset of trainingTypes
