Description

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition and need to be an "experienced shooter" as defined as someone who can:
1. Demonstrate mastery of the basic skills of safe firearm handling
2. Demonstrate trigger finger discipline and muzzle awareness AT ALL TIMES!!
3. Shoot a decent group
4. Zero their firearm
5. Clean their firearm
6. Follow instructions

Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Expectations and Outcomes

Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and a Course Completion Certificate.

Documentation Requirements

This course is for individuals who are not disqualified from possessing and/or using a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and who are of good repute.

Students must be law-abiding, adult, U.S. Citizens, or U.S. Persons (defined as a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Students must possess a valid Driver License or Government Issued Identification to participate in this course. Please note that Visa holders (Work, Travel, Etc.) are not eligible to participate in any Northpointe Training, LLC courses involving firearms.

The instructor requires a copy of your Government Issued ID once you register.

This course is for law-abiding adult United States citizens, as defined by applicable federal, state, or local law, and experienced shooters (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm, and cleaning the firearm).

Prospective participants can demonstrate that they have the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes by producing an NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, any NPT Live-Fire Training Course Completion Certificate or passing the Pre-Course Assessment.
