Be Alert. Be Ready. Be OnPoint.

Dale and Angela Humphries are the husband-and-wife team behind OnPoint Personal Defense, based in Summerville, South Carolina. Both are certified firearms instructors, military veterans, and passionate educators dedicated to equipping everyday people with the skills and confidence to defend themselves and others.

With extensive experience in personal defense, Dale and Angela train with purpose and humility—putting in hundreds of hours each year with top instructors across the country to sharpen their abilities as shooters and instructors. Their mission is to pass that knowledge on in a practical, no-intimidation approach.

They specialize in foundational skills like situational awareness, concealed weapons permit (CWP) instruction, basic pistol, and non-lethal defense—including pepper spray and Image-Based Decisional Drills (IBDD). Their programs also include Stop the Bleed, CPR certification, and emergency range medicine.

Whether you’re new to firearms or ready to advance, the Humphries offer hands-on training that is informative, approachable, and rooted in real-world readiness. Private lessons, group classes, and mobile training options are available.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never shot a gun before. Is that okay?

Absolutely! We love working with new shooters and will walk you through everything step-by-step.

I don’t have a gun. Can I borrow one?

Yes. In fact, we recommend you don’t buy a firearm before training. We want to make sure you’re comfortable and informed before investing in a gun you may not end up liking. If you already own one, bring it along with the correct ammunition.

I’m not sure I even want a gun. Are there other ways to protect myself?

Yes. We offer training in situational awareness and pepper spray—excellent non-lethal options for personal safety.

Can you come to my workplace, school, or youth group to teach?

Yes. We offer mobile training and can tailor our classes to suit your group’s specific needs.

Can you work with people who have disabilities?

Yes. We’re happy to make accommodations—just let us know in advance how we can best support you.

Will I be safe during the class?

Safety is our top priority. Every class begins with a safety briefing to ensure everyone understands the protocols. On the range, instructors and range safety officers closely monitor all activity and may move individuals off the line if necessary to maintain safety.

Are there medical protocols in place?

Yes. Emergency procedures are reviewed before class begins, and we always have trained personnel on-site.

Is anyone certified in emergency medicine?

Yes. Angela is an EMT with Dorchester County. Dale is certified in First Aid, CPR, and Stop the Bleed.
