Marty Hysen Bio:
I've been a Holland resident since 1979. Graduate of Holland High 1984, married, with 6 children and 8 grandchildren. I’ve been a self employed entrepreneur since my teens with a background in owning and operating an 11 person collision repair shop for 15 years, Leadership and Personal development training, public speaking, and business coaching, to mention a few. I fell in love with firearms in the 90’s realizing over the recent years I could utilize my background skills to help others in the firearms industry.

Through a positive experience, my goal is to equip you with the proper knowledge of firearms in the safety, skills and confidence you need to justifiably protect yourself and your loved ones should the need arise.

Feel free to email, text or call me with any questions.

I am looking forward to working with you and the new friendships.

  • Tracer, armor piercing, white phosphorus, incendiary, penetrator rounds, or any other excessively destructive ammunition is PROHIBITED on range.

  • All targets must be located so that a bullet will strike between the base of and halfway up the backstop/berm so that no bullet strikes the ground in front of the backstop/berm.

  • All shooters must clean up their areas. All targets, litter, and spent ammunition cases must be removed by the shooter before leaving.

  • No shooter may fire from points other than designated firing points. Shooters may only shoot targets in their lane.

  • Food, drinks, and tobacco products are prohibited on the firing line at all times.

  • Firearms and ammunition are subject to inspection by any Range Officer, at any time.

  •  The command “CEASEFIRE” will be observed IMMEDIATELY, no matter who says it! Anyone may call a ceasefire. All shooters shall IMMEDIATELY holster (or clear and ground) their firearm and step back from the firing line, in order to make it safe! (Ground means putting your firearm on the ground.)

  •  Use caution, if your firearm fails to fire (malfunctions), when the trigger is pulled. keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, place the firearm on the ground directly in front of you, pointing down range, and call for a Range Safety Officer's assistance.

  •  If a range officer has to speak to you, give you any guidance, or correct you for any violation of range rules, he will more than likely be doing so in a very loud voice. This is because both the range officer and the shooter are wearing hearing protection (which is mandatory). You may ask to go to the range building to discuss whatever you are doing wrong.

  • If you do not follow range procedures and/or commit an unsafe act, at the range officer’s discretion, you may be asked/ordered to leave for a period of time at the range officer’s discretion.

  • The only direction that any firearm may be pointed at any time, is down range (toward the target berm)! You may not walk around with a handgun dangling from your hand or pointed toward the sky or any direction other than toward the berm, at any time!

  • Shooters must stand directly in front of the target they are shooting. Shooting at multiple targets from any position is PROHIBITED! Shooting while moving in any direction is PROHIBITED!

  • When the range is cleared for shooters to go down range, all firearms must either be holstered or “unloaded and grounded.” (“Grounded” means placed on the ground.) If grounded, pistols must have their magazines removed and actions open/slides locked back. Revolvers must have their cylinders swung open. In either case, WHENEVER ANYONE IS DOWN RANGE, NO ONE CAN TOUCH A FIREARM, FOR ANY REASON!

Remember the Basics of Firearm Safety

1. Treat all guns as if they are loaded.

2. Control your muzzle: Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.

3. Be sure of your target and what is beyond.

4. Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
