ABOUT THE FOUNDER:

Hey ya’ll! Aradia Washington aka Rai here, and I am the Founder of At Her Defense – a firearms training academy exclusively servicing women and children. As a Firearm Instructor, I bring an extensive background accentuating the notions of firearm safety, concealed carry rights, and strengthening the concept of independence. But more notably, a resource that prioritizes empowerment and confidence and brings light to the taboo conversation that no woman should have to depend on others to feel safe, secure, and protected.

Why the gun community? Because, as a woman, I know how it feels to be vulnerable and defenseless. In addition, I understand how uncomfortable it can feel trying to rise yourself up from a history of abuse, and we women deserve more than that. Experiencing relationship abuse firsthand, I have made it my mission to shift the representation scale. I want more women standing confidently, empowered, tall, and victimless. With that as my foundation, I retired early in March 2022; I quickly began seeking ways to keep myself mentally and physically stimulated, which I landed on the path of instructing. Devoted to helping women in this space and resurfacing the integrity of safety, I trained nonstop and soon became certified in October 2022. And then launched At Her Defense shortly thereafter.

Overall? There is an old saying that life is 10% of what happens to you and 90% of how you react to it. As an Instructor, I missioned myself to instill this line of thinking in millions. Because if there is one thing for sure, every woman deserves to feel safe, prepared, and in control of protecting themselves and those around them. And above all, having the freedom to unlock that mindset and defense dexterity within themselves.

My end game? My goal is to help millions of women capitalize on their strengths, feel confident, and truly master the art of self-defense, In addition to doing so in a comfortable, safe, and secure environment. I also plan to buy land to build an outdoor range on as things progress in the future.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

All registration fees to At Her Defense [“AHD”] are non-refundable. Instead, your payment may be applied to the one-free rescheduled registration if needed. There are no refunds in cases of accidental registrations.

AHD reserves the right to cancel classes at will. In these instances, students will receive a full refund unless they prefer to reschedule for a later date.

Classes will not be canceled due to light rain/cold weather. If weather conditions are unsafe, classes will be rescheduled. We cannot process refunds due to inclement weather, as it is beyond our control. Students may choose to reschedule due to light rain/cold weather; however, it will count towards their one free reschedule.

Students who cancel within the 24-hour grace period may reschedule at the instructor's discretion, or those who fail to attend their scheduled class are considered No Shows. To reschedule or book future classes, you must submit payment for the new class at cost. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Reschedule Policy

RESCHEDULING POLICY:

If students cannot attend their scheduled class, they are allowed one free reschedule for any reason. Failure to attend the second class will result in the forfeiture of any payments made to AHD. *Please reschedule at least 24 hours (one full day) in advance to be eligible for complimentary rescheduling.

LATE/NO-SHOW POLICY:

We do not charge late fees; however, we ask that students please arrive about 15 mins before the start of class. If you are late, the lost time cannot be made up (For example: If you booked a one-hour private lesson and arrived 15 minutes late, the scheduled training session will only last the remaining allotted 45 minutes). This is, so we do not unfairly interfere with other students’ appointments.

However, after the 16-minute mark, the appointment may be canceled and marked as a No Show. All registration fees will be forfeited if a student is a No Show.

Waiver

RELEASE AND WAIVER

The individual named below (referred to as "I" or "me") desires to participate in any or all ("Activity" or “Activities”) provided by the FTA Member (the “Member”). As lawful consideration for being permitted by the Member to participate in the Activity, and the intangible value that I will gain by participating in the Activity, I agree to all the terms and conditions set forth in this agreement (this "Agreement").

I AM AWARE AND UNDERSTAND THAT THE ACTIVITIES ARE DANGEROUS ACTIVITIES AND INVOLVE THE RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH, AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ANY INJURIES THAT I SUSTAIN MAY BE COMPOUNDED BY NEGLIGENT EMERGENCY RESPONSE OR RESCUE OPERATIONS OF THE MEMBER. I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I AM VOLUNTARILY PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTIVITIES WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE DANGER INVOLVED AND HEREBY AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISKS OF INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE MEMBER OR OTHERWISE.    Initial:

I hereby expressly waive and release any and all claims, now known or hereafter known in any jurisdiction throughout the world, against the Member, its officers, directors, employees, agents, affiliates, members, successors, and assigns (collectively, "Releasees"), on account of injury, death, or property damage arising out of or attributable to my participation in the Activities, whether arising out of the negligence of the Member or any Releasees or otherwise. I covenant not to make or bring any such claim against the Member or any other Releasee, and forever release and discharge the Member and all other Releasees from liability under such claims.

I shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Member and all other Releasees against any and all losses, damages, liabilities, deficiencies, claims, actions, judgments, settlements, interest, awards, penalties, fines, costs, or expenses of whatever kind, including reasonable attorney fees, that are incurred by the indemnified party arising out of or related to any third-party claim alleging any bodily injury to or death of any person, or damage to real or tangible personal property caused by my negligence or other more culpable act or omission (including any reckless or willful misconduct) in connection with my participation in the Activities.

Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Agreement, or the breach thereof, shall be determined by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Commercial Arbitration Rules and Mediation Procedures ("Commercial Rules"). There shall be one arbitrator agreed to by the parties within twenty (20) days of receipt by the respondent of the request for arbitration, or in default thereof, appointed by the AAA in accordance with its Commercial Rules. The award rendered by the arbitrator shall be final, non-reviewable, non-appealable and binding on the parties and may be entered and enforced in any court having jurisdiction. The place of arbitration shall be San Antonio, Texas. Except as may be required by law, neither a party nor the arbitrator may disclose the existence, content, or results of any arbitration without the prior written consent of both parties, unless to protect or pursue a legal right. The arbitrator will have no authority to award punitive damages or consequential damages.

I IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY WAIVE, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY RIGHT I MAY HAVE TO A TRIAL BY JURY IN ANY LEGAL ACTION, PROCEEDING, CAUSE OF ACTION, OR COUNTERCLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO MY PARTICIPATION IN THE ACTIVITIES. I CERTIFY AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I MAKE THIS WAIVER KNOWINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY.                                                                           Initial:

This Agreement constitutes the sole and entire agreement of the Member and me with respect to the subject matter contained herein and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous understandings, agreements, representations, and warranties, both written and oral, with respect to such subject matter. If any term or provision of this Agreement is invalid, illegal, or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, such invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability shall not affect any other term or provision of this Agreement or invalidate or render unenforceable such term or provision in any other jurisdiction. This Agreement is binding on and shall inure to the benefit of the Member and me and their respective successors and assigns.

BY SIGNING, I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD ALL OF THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT AND THAT I AM VOLUNTARILY GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE THE MEMBER.
