About KR Training

Since 1991, KR Training has been offering high quality, affordable firearms and self-defense courses. We're the oldest and largest firearms training school in Central Texas, staffed by male and female instructors with decades of combined experience and national level credentials in firearms training, defensive shooting and tactics, competition shooting, threat and risk assessment, law enforcement and military service. In addition to teaching our own courses, we host multiple national level trainers every year.

Our 88 acre private training facility, the A-Zone Range, has multiple shooting bays, including a shoot house, and a comfortable classroom building with A/C and bathroom. Facility is on flat, level ground easily accessible to those with mobility limitations. We have a large inventory of loaner gear students can use during classes: guns, holsters, eye and ear protection.

We've trained thousands of students: total novices, recreational shooters, carry permit holders, those seeking serious post-LTC training, competitive shooters, and local law enforcement officers. Advanced courses require a carry permit and may have additional pre-reqs.

Call us at 512-633-8232 anytime between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Central Standard Time. The fastest way to get information is to email us.

Policies

Cancellation Policy

Except in extreme situations, we hold classes rain or shine. If we reschedule a class due to weather or change in instructor availability, students that cannot attend the make-up date are given full refunds. Payments are non-refundable, but in most cases we convert the student's payment to tuition credit that can be used for other classes. This credit is valid for up to 5 years after payment. In some cases, such as NRA instructor training, deposits are used to purchase materials specific to that course. Once materials are purchased, they cannot be returned and converted back to tuition credit. The materials are kept by KR Training until the student can attend another session of the course for which the materials are required.

Payments may be subject to a rescheduling fee of $25, if the student contacts KR Training less than 3 days prior to class day and requests to reschedule the course. Students that pay and "no-show" on class day without contacting KR Training forfeit the entire payment. We suggest that students doing last minute rescheduling contact KR Training by phone at 512-633-8232 rather than email.

Other Policy

Our training is open to any law abiding adult that can legally purchase firearms under local, state and federal law.

Here are the gun handling rules we expect you to follow when attending KR Training classes.  Please read them carefully.

1) Always keep the muzzle pointed in the safest available direction.
On the firing line,, the safest direction is into the designated backstop.

2) Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
ONLY put your finger on the trigger when you have a specific target and have the gun aimed at it.
At all other times your finger should be OFF the trigger.

3) Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
See notes below.

If you are wearing your concealed handgun when you arrive, leave it on and leave it alone. Do NOT handle your gun anywhere on the facility unless directed to do so by an instructor.

If you were not wearing your carry gun when you drove through our front gate, do NOT put it on and load it in the parking area.
Put it in a case or bag or in your holster and bring it to the classroom unloaded.

You should arrive with your guns unloaded, stored in a case or a bag.
"Unloaded" means no ammunition anywhere in the gun. Magazine out, chamber empty, hammer down.
Do NOT carry a gun uncased from the parking lot to the classroom or range.
Do NOT handle your gun anywhere on the facility unless directed to do so by an instructor.

Do NOT handle your guns in the classroom unless directed to do by an instructor.

ONLY uncase or unbag your gun when you are at the designated table or directed to do so by an instructor.
Do NOT take your handgun out of the holster once you leave the uncase/unbagging tables.

The ONLY places you may handle your firearm are the firing line and the designated fumble area.
Do NOT handle your firearm while an instructor is in front of the firing line.
Do NOT handle your firearm while walking back and forth between the ready area and firing line.
